The Gospel According to J, (GKJV), by Douglas Wilson is not a conventional bible study textbook. It’s very different. You will need to go through the book before you can really get a feel for it.

The book is written in a conversational tone that is meant to be read. I’ve found that even though I studied the book in its entirety, it would sometimes take me longer to finish reading it than it did to read the text. I think this is the result of the conversational style. Sometimes I wanted to get the point across without as much explanations.

It’s also important to mention that the main subject of GKJV is the life of Jesus and his ministry, not that of the apostles. I actually had to read the book twice just to catch all the key concepts that were included in the book. You don’t have to worry about getting lost in the story of the book because it flows really well and logically. For instance, in chapter eight, Jesus sends two people to John, who are the twelve apostles.

You’ll find John the Apostle using synonyms and coming up with verses that are similar to each other. So as you continue to read, you’ll find that you’ll be able to explain what John is talking about to someone who is not an expert on the bible. However, if you’re the type of person who wants a book that answers all the questions that you have about the bible, then you’ll have to wait until you read chapter fifteen of the book.

Chapter sixteen of GKJV is called “Dictation”. In the chapter, J tells Jesus and Peter what he has said to them in all the talks that he has given. The chapter is really great because it includes new phrases that are not common terms in the bible that many Bible readers use. Also, it is interesting to read some Biblical passages that are from different translations and English versions.

Reading this book is a way for you to be able to communicate what you want your child to learn about the bible. You’ll need to go through the entire book or start with the last chapter. Remember that the text book will be full of long drawn out stories that will take a few minutes to read and will be able to only go so far in explaining the meaning of any text.

Some Bible Readers may have to take a couple of readings from the text book to make sure that they understand everything that is written. You’ll find that this is the best way to review what was written in the text book before going on to the next chapter. Reading chapters one and two is also essential for your child to learn all the biblical ideas that are important to them.

Even though GKJV is meant to be an interactive book, it’s important to remember that you’ll still need to use your God-given gifts to teach your child about the word of God. Also, your child will need to be taught about the bible and the importance of knowing God’s word and making it known to others. This way, you’ll be able to build their faith and knowledge of the bible.
